Lime has more to it and I added other things I saw. Thank you for sharing this tree. Glad to assist you. Your website is wonderful. Sincerely, Cheryl Martin INTERPRETATION: Lime: transformation Tree looks like a torch: is she the first born or only...often times they carry family tradition. At birth, it looks like her subconscious thought things were rocky...it is like the tree could be blown over initially. At six there was another chunk of the tree missing. From 8 till 10 years old there was a major bite taken out...like the tree was chopped. The top looks like two faces are in the tree. One facing up and looking to the past and one facing forward looking straight forward and straight on.. The line between the top of the tree and the trunk shows you will really have to have rapport with the child for her to allow you to work with the subconscious mind. She is very goal-oriented and it appears to me that her time with the psychiatrist and the family is assisting her. I don't see an explosion coming (not with the lime green of positive transformation). The lines on the tree trunk are , in tree drawing, vining ...which means others take her life force. Vining is often on the tree of a first born or only. These first borns or onlies feel very responsible. She is goal-oriented and would feel tremendous responsibility. Also, the line at the very bottom of the trunk shows she "doesn't want to consciously talk about things from the past." This means that her subconscious would greatly help her if she can develop rapport and allow positive suggestion. Any 12 year old is highly involved with and symptomatic of the family of origin. Also, she is obviously very bright or she would not somatize emotional feelings into physical symptoms. Be very careful in working with this child. Luckily, her psychiatrist feels this would be beneficial and it would. What I would do: Positive suggestion and would start with skills she wants to develop. (That she has chosen). She is goal-oriented; therefore, she will have goals that she wants to obtain. If she joins with you, the two of you can accomplish great things for her. If she resists (that line between top and bottom), she will never really allow herself to go into hypnosis. Even though some of the vining, and maybe the flames of the torch (the intense goals) may originate from feeling the need to produce within the family system and might cause her to be on-guard with a parent in the room for a session, be sure (and I strongly suggest this) that the parent of her choice is in the session for the soaking up of positive suggestion. Three adults would be totally overwhelming to her. But, one parent needs to be in the room for the session. Things which would help with the interpretation of a tree drawing: 1. What is her position in the family system? which child in the family? 2. An adjective (and may sure it is a one-word adjective ) for each family member. 3. An adjective which she gives herself to describe herself. 4. Starting with first grade, have her give a one-word adjective for her teacher and their name to show male or female. 5. Her month, day, and year of birth written on the back of her sheet of paper. 6. Her signature (which she produces) to see. 7. I always allow all family to come in for the consult and stand outside the door until all have seated themselves. Where everyone sits will speak volumes about dyads, triads, etc. 8. The adjective for the Mom and Dad will tell you, along with how they sit, how she relates to parents . A good way to find out also is to ask for her to draw her family like the children in last month's update. Then, you will know whether she will relate to you. The children in last month's update: the oldest aligns with DAD and power (therefore a male would do best with her), the middle would be fine with either gender hypnotist, and the youngest in last month's update would definitely want a male. 9. Is her psychiatrist male or female? There are no knotholes in this child's tree. I think the psychiatrist and the family taking action have helped her. The chunks out of the tree show her self esteem felt assaulted. Also, when gargoyle looking faces show up (like the two at the top of her tree), it means someone was "in her face". In the past the face looked up (almost like ignoring the person being talked to) and now the face is straight forward (indicating this child may feel she is being heard and able to deal with criticism). She has many positives: In positive transformation Goal-oriented Able to set boundaries at a young age Able to take risks in life (strong instinctual nature) Developing rapport and getting her to a good level while keeping one parent in the room will be your challenge in this. Thank you so much for taking the time to send this. Receiving children's drawings (or adults for that matter) are like receiving gold to me. Good to hear from you and we wish you the best. Sincerely, Cheryl Martin If you gather any of the other information, I will be happy to give you my interpretation. (Especially her drawing of her family and her signature). All the other information will give a clearer picture. ----- Original Message ----- From: Brenda Kindel To: emartin@vonl.com Sent: Tuesday, October 07, 2008 7:31 AM Subject: Tree Drawing Hi Cheryl, I’ve really enjoyed getting the month updates from you guys. I hope all is going well for you and I really miss having you in Houston. I have a question for you about a upcoming client and tree drawing. Any comments or advise you have is always greatly appreciated. The client is a 12 year old girl who developed an anxiety to school in the last year. The parents have some idea that a teacher has caused this. When Ike(hurricane) hit and stress and anxiety was so much that the child developed conversion disorder loosing use of her arms, legs and memory loss. She has almost completed recovered from the physical problems and her memory is getting much better according to her mother. The mother wrote in her e-mail that her psychiatrist felt that hypnosis would be a great benefit. I had a consultation with the mother, father and girl last week. I asked the girl to do a tree drawing for me, it is attached. This is what I got from the drawing. She did the drawing very quickly. Lime green color indicates positive thinker. She selected white paper from many different colors which could indicate transformation on subconscious levels. She is honesty, truthful and loyal. Floating tree indicates a subconscious outlook of taking calculated risks. Pressure on paper is light indicating low vitality. The position is slightly to the left which means she is holding in the past not letting go. Line at the bottom of the tree indicates she does not want to talk about the past. I’ve attached her tree drawing with her mother’s permission, I hope it’s OK with you. If not I know you’ll tell me. Thanks for any help you can give.
